Dowagiac Dial a Ride Services
The Dowagiac Dial-A-Ride Transit (DART) provides service to the community of Dowagiac with service extended out to Southwest Michigan College. Dowagiac DART offers a 24 hour advance reservation curb to curb service. It is available to anyone, any age residing within the city limits of Dowagiac and within a one mile radius of the city limits, traveling:
NORTH to Dowagiac Conservation Club at 54551 M 51 North
SOUTH to Dowagiac Auto at 57748 M 51 South
WEST to Apostolic Lighthouse Church at 30402 M 62 West
EAST to Daily Road
How do I schedule a ride
Rides are reserved on a first-called/first-served, space available basis. Reservations are taken Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Capacity and schedules are limited, so call as soon as possible. We do ask that you call as soon as you know you are going to need a ride (please no earlier than seven days) whenever possible. Call our scheduling office at 269-782-3300.
When Will I Be Picked Up and Returned Home
When scheduling a ride, you will be given a 15-20-minute time frame for your pickup (e.g. pickup time for a 10 a.m. appointment may be between 9:00 a.m. and 9:20 a.m.) You may wait in your residence until the driver arrives. He/She will honk the horn and can wait for up to three (3) minutes only so please be ready.
For your return trip, the driver will pick you up within 15 minutes of your requested return time. Should your trip times change, or you wish to cancel, please notify the scheduling office immediately.
Cancelling Reservations / No-Show Policy
If you no longer need a scheduled ride, please be courteous and cancel your reservation by calling Dowagiac DART dispatch at 269-782-3300. If a passenger fails to show for scheduled ride, a no-show infraction is issued as the cost of the scheduled trip. The fee is assessed at the time of the next ride. Riders are verbally notified of each no-show infraction.
Hours of Operation
Demand response service operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Fares
Demand Response rides within Dowagiac city limits are $2.00 ($1.00 reduced fare*). Demand Response rides to, from, anywhere outside the city limits are $4.00 ($2.00 reduced fare*). Children age 5-17 may ride for half fare. Children under 5 ride free. Payments must be made in exact change at the time of the ride using cash, a punch ticket, or a token.
