TCATA Governance & Funding

Board of Trustees

The Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority is governed by the Board of Trustees which are appointed by the City of Benton Harbor Commission. As a public authority serving the citizens, the TCATA board of trustees meet every month to develop policies and upgrades to better serve the communities.  All monthly meetings are open to the public and all decisions are open to public comment before approval.

Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held each month on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12 p.m.  Local Advisory Council meetings are held quarterly at 12:00pm on the 3rd Friday of the month in March, May, July and September. 

Location of the TCATA Board Meetings

TCATA Board of Trustees meetings are held at Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority headquarters located at 275 E Wall Street in downtown Benton Harbor.  Hourly service on the Red and Blue Routes is available.  On street parking can be found on the west side of the building.

Public Participation at Meetings of the Board of Trustees

The TCATA Board of Trustees has created rules to facilitate the conduct of public meetings in an open and orderly manner and in an environment safe for all persons in attendance.

Funding

Since 1974 the Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority (TCATA), has been the designated recipient for all of the Federal Transit Administration 5307 funding for the St. Joseph and Benton Harbor census designated urbanized area.    There is local support in the form of a millage from the City of Benton Harbor. 

Financials

The Authority’s 2010 Audited Financial Report was prepared in accordance with Governmental Auditing Standards.  The Report includes the Management's Discussion and Analysis, the Statement of Net Assets, the Statement of Revenues, Expenses and Changes in Fund Net Assets, the Statement of Cash Flows and the Notes to Financial Statements.

Annual Report

The  Federal Transit Administration Annual Report provides an overview of the Authority’s financial results. It includes a statement of revenues, expenses and net assets, performance highlights and a description of operations.
